Writer's Notebooks

I've been on the search for my next journal or "writers notebook."  For those of you who've never heard of that...it's a journal of sorts that you keep with you at all times for thoughts, plot, bits of you life...whatever.  I don't bear my soul in these...but keep it less personal and more productive.  I've been known to have lists of things in way too many places so it's nice that I contain my thoughts in one spot. From there you can look back and gain nuggets that can turn into a story.  Here have been my latest writers notebooks.  Choosing the perfect one reflects the stage of life at the time and has to really mean something to you. I haven't found my next one yet but I'm on the lookout.

My daughter got a hold of it...

Grading CD's

I assigned a class of pre-teachers the assignment of making a playlist or CD to use in the classroom. Here's my attempt at grading them.

A first grade room

I was volunteering recently in my daughters classroom and took a few shots of the environment.  Her teacher uses a Disney theme for everything (Yeah!  Another Disney fanatic, like me!!)  I coveted her puppet collection.

A management incentive.  The students sign the poster over time wherever they want and on Fridays, she chooses a letter and number and the names in the box get a candy.

11 minutes of your time well spent...

I've mentioned before how much I love Sir Ken Robinson.  Here is a great animated video of his latest speech.  The animation does "mind maps" proud!

Halloween Window Sillouettes

Like my post last year, I was excited to visit the home in Cedar Hills, UT to see how they did their windows this year....and it didn't disappoint with a variety of fairy tales.  See if you can identify them.

Having recently moved, I was SO excited to do my windows this year in October.  I chose the classic characters from Winnie the Pooh.  Here they are:

Utah Maps

The fourth graders in my sons school did Utah maps as a project. My son chose to build a glow in the dark map using tissue paper, a flashlight and a black box.  I love creative projects like this!
